Lara Dutta is the first Miss Universe of the new millennium. She was born in
Ghaziabad, India on April 16, 1978. She completed her high school in
Bangalore, scoring the highest marks in English in the National Board Exams. Later she joined
University of Mumbai and did her degree in Economics.
A model by profession, she was discovered by Gladrags' annual modeling competition. After winning Miss Intercontinental in Germany, she started to build up a very successful modeling career on a national scale. She participated in the Miss Femina India contest and won the title and made her way clear to the Miss Universe Crown. Her hobbies include bungee jumping, para gliding, and white water rafting.
