Laii is a small bamboo basket used for washing rice. It is used by the Bengali speaking population of
Tripura.
Its base is square shaped with a diagonal length of 220 mm. The sides spread out to a circular rim of diameter 320 mm. The height measures 140 mm. Two sets of wide bamboo splits are used for weaving the base. The sides are woven in a twilled fashion. A ring constructed from bamboo-split is woven to the rim for additional strength.
