Lady Amherst's Pheasant




Lady Amherst's Pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae) is a very secretive pheasant, which runs rather than fly. It is a monogamous species. The male is very colorful with an extremely long black and white tail, greenish back, red and yellow rump and black-and-white neck ruff. Diet consists of berries, bamboo shoots, small animals, including spiders, earwigs and beetles.

Lady Amherst's Pheasant can be seen in Allen Forest Zoo, Kanpur.
