Lacquer Bangles

Lacquer bangles have been crafted in India since the ancient times. Bangles studded with gold and precious stones were a status symbol for the people. In the modern times beads, stones and tiny mirrors are used for the embedding work. The bangles come in a range of bright colors like yellow, red and blue. They feature attractive designs and an occasional gold bordering.

Lacquer bangles are usually made by coating a base material, usually glass or light alloy, with colored molten lacquer. The surface is embedded with the required decorative materials like mirrors, beads and stones. Rajasthan boasts of bangles made entirely of pure lacquer. Processed lacquer is heated, flattened and mixed well with cloth dye. This molten lacquer is shaped in to bangles.
