Kuntham

Kuntham is a lethal weapon used in Kalaripayattu, the martial art of Kerala. It is the same as spear which is made of strong cane, bamboo or wood. One end of this long pole is fixed with an iron blade, which is in the shape of a leaf or bud. The metallic part measures about one inch in diameter and five inch in length.

During the teaching of Kalari, how to hold the Kuntham, how it must be thrown with accuracy and also blocking the same are taught with perfection.
