Krishna Peacock Butterfly




Krishna Peacock (Princeps krishna) is widely seen in Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur. The head, abdomen and thorax are black in color. The wingspan is around 12-13 cm.

The upper side of Krishna Peacock is black, dusted with greenish scales. A narrow sharply defined yellow discal band is seen on the upper forewing. Greenish-blue discal patch, which extends as a greenish band up to the dorsum, is on the upper hind wing. On both sides of the hind wing, there are a series of red mauve-capped crescents found.
