Kripananda Variar

Kripananda Variar (1906-1993) spent his life spreading the message of Saint Arunagirinathar’s Thirupugazh, songs in praise of Lord Muruga. Swamy's father Siva Thiru Mallaya Dasa Bhagavathar had also established Thirupugazh sabhas in many places.

Kripananda Variar published 'Thirupugazh Amirtham,' a monthly magazine for the same purpose. He established'Thiruvarul Dhavaneri Manram' and appointed preachers to propagate devotional rites and ideals.

He is said to have received initiation in a dream from Pamban Swami and later been guided by Madurai Thirupugazh Swami, who blessed him in his endeavor to spread Thirupugazh.
