Kollam Pooram

An annual ten-day festival, Kollam Pooram, also known as Asramam Festival, is held at Sree Krishna Swamy Temple in Kollam. It commences with the traditional flag hoisting.

Rituals on this occasion include Vishu Kani and Anayoottu. Traditional Vishu sadya is organized. Kathakali is staged on all days of the festival. Panchavadyam and multi-colored umbrellas used for the elephant show are the other attractions.

The most impressive program of the festival is mega Elephant March, a procession of dozens of caparisoned elephants, which is held on the concluding day of the festival.
