Kizhakkanchery




Kizhakkanchery, a significant village, is situated near Vadakkancheri in Palakkad District of Kerala. It is to the west of Palakkad. The Uttaravahini River flows through this village.

Kamakshi Temple, built by Sankara Jyotsiar, forms one of the prime attractions. Another major shrine is Nedumbarath Bhagavathi Temple. The village is the birth place of eminent Sanskrit scholars such as Rasanga Sastrigal, Subramanya Ganapathigal and Sri Harihara Vadhyar.

A grand car festival (Ratholsavam) is celebrated here during the Malayalam month of Makaram (January - February). It culminates with ceremonial bathing of the deity. Ganesh Chathurthi and Navartri are the other festivals celebrated here.
