Kidangoor




Kidangoor is located in Kottayam District of Kerala and is on the Kottayam-Pala road. It is around 25 km north-east of Kottayam.

The place is famous for Kidangoor Skanda Temple and the St Mary’s Forane Church. The main festival of the temple is Kavadi Abhishekam in the month of February or March. Another temple called the Sasthamkotta is on the banks of the Meenachil River.

Kidangoor is the home town of Kunchan Nambiar. The Malayalam masterpiece, Unnineeli Sandesam, was authored by one of the Vadakkumkur rulers who reigned over this region. There is a college of Engineering functioning here.

Cochin International Airport (80 km) is the closest airport. The nearest railheads are Ettumanoor Railway Station and Kottayam Railway Station. Kidangoor can be approached from Ettumanoor (7 km) as well as from Pala (10 km).
