Khayalnuma

Khayalnuma is a popular musical art form in Hindustani Classical Music. It is a form where Tarana bols are used in a Khayal-like setting. Numa literally means ‘according to,’ in Persian; hence Khayalnuma is ‘according to Khayal.’

In Khayalnuma, the composition involves meaningless words/sound syllabus, whereas Khayal has meaningful words. The composition is set in a raga which corresponds to a definite tala.
