Khang Ling

Khang Ling is a wind instrument common in the Himalayan region of India, particularly used with Buddhist tantra.

This bone trumpet is made out of human femur. If a person, from high class or low class, died of accident, murder or infectious disease, his bone is considered. The thighbone of woman is well preferred to make trumpets.

If the thighbone is of tiger then the instrument is termed Slag Ling. The instrument is played to appease gods in rituals and ritualistic dances. Khang Ling is used by weather makers to frighten the demons who prevent rains.
