Kham Alu is an economical plant, which mainly grows in
Arunachal Pradesh. It is a tropical climber with underground tubers and bulbils.
The tubers produce diosgeninan alkalloid, which is useful in pharmaceuticals. The pieces of tubers and bulbils are used for propagation. Inter cropping is also possible.
