Kausalya

Kausalya, eldest wife among the three wives of king Dasaratha, was the mother ofLord Ram, in the Ramayana. Her character was ideal and liberal. In an earlier birth she was Manushataroopa and had pleased Lord Vishnu with her penance. She requested a boon from the Lord, to take birth as her son. The same Manushataroopa was later born as the mother of Ram, Kausalya.
