Kattige Muhurta




Kattige Muhurta also known as Katie mahout, is one among the 4 rituals of Paryaya festival, celebrated in Udupi. The ritual is conducted six months before starting the Paryaya festival. The main intention of the ritual is to collect firewood for cooking during the festival. The navagrahas are worshipped. Then the Mutt workers carry loads of wood and start the procession. The wood is carried down behind the goshala after offering prayers to Chandreshwara and Anantheshwara temples and at Shri Krishna Mutt.
