Katki is a perennial herb, which belongs to the family Scrophulariacae. It grows commonly in alpine Himalayas, up to altitudes of 2700 to 4500 m.
It is considered to be bitter tonic, antiperiodic, cholagogue and stomachic. Katki is given for the treatment of dyspepsia, fever and diseases of liver and spleen including jaundice, anemia and scorpion stings. Multiplication is through seeds and rhizome.
