Kashtwari is tribal community found in the northern state of
Jammu and Kashmir. They speak a dialect known as 'Kishtwari', which is a member of the
Indo-Aryan language family.
The tribes manage their livelihood from agriculture. Virtually all of the Kashtwaris are Muslim. The community members are tall and well built. They celebrate numerous festivals and fairs, of which most are associated with religious events.
