Kariyala

Kariyala is a rural folk theater form of Himachal Pradesh. Stories containing some moral principles are depicted through this art form. It is usually performed in an open ground, with the actors sometimes performing in the midst of the audience.

Kariyala involves plots borrowed from daily situations involving the common people. A group of singers chant some hymns while a clown and a female character performs a series of gestures and dance movements, without uttering any dialogue.
