Kanva dynasty was a Brahman dynasty founded by Vasudeva Kanva, the minister of Devabhuti, the last king of the Sunga Dynasty. The Sungas were the rulers of North and Central India in the Pre-Christian era.
Four kings belonging to Kanva dynasty ruled India over a period of 45 years. There was no apparent expansion of the Kanva kingdom. Their territory was confined to areas that belonged to the previous rulers, the Sungas. Susarman was the last ruler of the Kanva dynasty. The Kanvas were overthrown by the Satavahanas in 30 BC.
