Kanjira
A musical instrument
A member of the tambourine family, the Kanjira is commonly used in the performance of Carnatic classical music. Its body is made by stretching lizard skin over a wooden frame. A metal jingle is fitted to the frame. While playing, water is sprinkled on the back side of the instrument. This controls the tone and sound of the instrument. The Kanjira belongs to the family of the daf and mridangam.
