Kandath Tharavad




Situated at Thenkurussi Village, in Palakkad District, Kandath Tharavad is a two hundred year old house with traditional architecture. It is the ancestral home of the Kandath family. Main attraction is the raised frontal area supported with grand bulbous pillars at each corner fashioned in teak, decorated with glorious carvings of elephants, snakes, fishes and dragons.

Kandath Tharavad offers four luxurious non A/C rooms with baths en suite. Home-made Kerala style vegetarian and non vegetarian food is offered to the guests. Activities include trekking, fishing, elephant rides and backwater cruises. Ayurvedic treatments and classes on yoga and meditation are given. Traditional art forms such as Kathakali and Mohiniyattam are performed before visitors. Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is located just over 2 hrs by road from here. Visitors can reach here from Palakkad Town Railway Station and Cochin International Airport.
