Kanakana Kindi

Window of Kanaka

Kanakana Kindi (window of Kanaka) is a specially revered place at the Shri Krishna temple of Udupi, Karnataka. Shri Kanakadasa, a great devotee of Lord Krishna, wanted to have a darshan of the idol. He was not allowed into the shrine, as he was not a Brahmin by birth. Kanakadasa then started singing praises of Shri Krishna and suddenly there was a breach in the wall before Kanakadasa. The miraculously formed window, through which Kanakadasa was able to see Lord Krishna is known as Kanakana Kindi. A pilgrim can have a good view of Krishna's image through this window, without entering the temple.
