Kalpa Vatansika Sutra is a highly revered text in
Jainism. The teaching and principles contained in it is followed by the
Shwetambar sect. It is also known by the name Kappavadamsiao.
This text is a part of the Jain canonical literature called Upang Agams, which provides explanation to the thoughts exerted by the primary texts called Agam Sutras.
Kalpa Vatansika Sutra contains the story related to the children of King Konika, who is a revered figure in Jain mythology. It is said that a war was fought between him and another ruler named King Chetaka. King Konika’s children however stayed out of the war and instead choose to lead the rest of their life as monks. Following their death, they attained a place in heaven.
