Kailasanadhar Temple-Govindhavadi




Kailasanadhar Temple is located in a small village Govindhavadi near Kannadapalayam in Kanchipuram District. This ancient temple, dating back to over thousand years, is crowned with a vimana of height 45 ft. The presiding deity here is Kailasanadhar (Shiva. There is a separate shrine for Goddess Akhilandeswari. The Guru of all the living things Brahaspathi is also worshipped in this temple by the name 'Dhakshinamoorthy'. Sanctums for Vinayaka, Valli Devasena, Nagathamman, Sandeswarar, Balamurugan and Navagrahas are also present here. Thursdays are considered auspicious for the temple as there are special pujas held. The temple is about 10 minute walking distance from Kannadapalayam bus stand.
