Kahar is a community whose members earn their livelihood by carrying palanquins and drawing water from wells. They have their own set of songs, collectively termed as Kaharauva.
The men usually sing these songs while carrying the palanquin. This particular variety is called 'chitka kaharva.' Apart from occupation-based songs, there are also songs sung during weddings and similar functions. The 'bada kaharva' song comes under this category.
