Kadusharkarakkootu

Kadusharkarakkootu is a peculiar hard mixture of jaggery and other ingredients, which was used for making sculptures, in some ancient temples of Kerala. Kadusharkarakkootu was used instead of stone and wood in rare instances. The idols at the Thiruvarkattukovil in north Malabar and the idol of Shri Padmanabha at the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram are said to be made of this unique mixture.
