Jodi Sankha




Jodi Sankha, which literally means Double Conch, is a unique folk dance native to Ganjam District of Orissa. It is a combined presentation of rural music along with Badya and Nrutya. Most noteworthy part is the harmony between the modulation of the conch and the physical movements of the artists. This martial art is performed mainly by non-Aryans embellished in colorful costumes. The main accompanying instruments include Changu- Baja and Mahuri; combined with the thrills of the conch present an emotional Orchestra of rural music.
