Jiviti is a traditional puja performed by married women of Maharashtra. It is performed on any one of the Fridays in Shravan (July-August). Jiviti Puja is held sacred to Goddess Jivta, a manifestation of Goddess Parvati. On this day, the married women are invited for lunch at their maternal home. A must-serve delicacy on this occasion is Puran Poli. After the puja, chickpeas or roasted chana mixed with milk and sugar are given to the women. Haldi and Kumkum are also offered.
