Jijabai

Jijabai was the mother of Chhatrapathi Shivaji, the leader of the Marathas and an Indian ruler who lived during the 17th century. Shahaji Bhosle, a Maratha chieftain, was her husband. Jijabai’s life is an example of how a mother can transform the lives of individuals, society, and a nation. She trained her son in martial arts and explained the great epic stories of the Mahabharata and Ramayana. As a result, she cultivated bravery and humanism in him. Thus Jijabai played an integral role in transforming her son to a heroic leader.
