Jawhar

Jawhar, popularly known as ‘Mahabaleshwar of Thane District’, is a famous hill station situated on the Nasik-Dahanu route, in Maharashtra. It is one of the erstwhile tribal kingdoms in Maharashtra.

Jawhar is noted for the exquisite Warli paintings. Major point of attraction here is the Jai Vilas Palace surrounded by extensive cashew plantations spread over a massive area. With its exotic dales, rich forests and a wonderful climate, this beautiful hill station presents a charming picture of nature’s splendor at work. The scenic beauty of the Dadar Kopra Falls, the enchanting Hanuman and Sunset Points and the relics of Bhupatgad are worth visiting.

The Shirpamal, the place where Chhatrapati Shivaji camped on his way to Surat, is located nearby.
