Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports




Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports was established jointly by the Ministry of Defence and the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir in 1983. The institute offers basic, advanced, and 15 days' children’s adventure courses.It provides training in adventure sports such as mountaineering, skiing, rock-climbing, parasailing and paragliding.

It has started regular environment awareness campaigns for the rural youth which include debates, symposia, workshops, nature treks, quiz and painting competitions.

Free training is also provided for poor students, physically handicapped and blind.
