Jambudwip

Jambudwip is a small island situated 10 km offshore in the Buffer Zone of the Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve in West Bengal. The whole island, with the exception of Mandirtala, submerges into the sea for half of the year and reappears only from March/April to September/October.

Jambudwip boasts an interesting variety of aquatic life. Every year, a fishing colony is set up from October to January. Ruins of an old lighthouse can be seen in the island.
