Built during Farooqi rule in India, Jama Masjid is situated at
Burhanpur in
Madhya Pradesh. It is the first Jama Masjid in Burhanpur and was constructed in 1529 by Begum Ruquiya, wife of King Azam Humayun. There were two towers in this mosque. The foundation of the present Jama Masjid was laid in 1590. It is similar to the
Jama Masjid in
Delhi and is adorned with Persian and Arabic calligraphy.
