Jaitugi (1191-1210), also known as Jaithrapala in history, succeeded to the throne after the death of his father Bhillama, the founder of the Yadava Dynasty. At the time, the Kakatiya kingdom was a considerable power in the Deccan. Jaitugi understood the menace posed by the Kakatiya kingdom to his own position, and attacked Warangal. Prataparudra I was defeated and killed by Jaitugi in 1195. It is an important achievement during his reign. After the death of Prataparudra I, his brother Mahadev ascended the throne at Warangal. Mahadev invaded the Yadava kingdom to take revenge of his brother's death. At this battle Mahadev lost his life and his son Ganapatideva was taken prisoner by Jaitugi in 1198. Ganapatideva was released in 1208.
