Jahar Dasgupta is a very well known painter. Born in 1942 at
Jamshedpur in
Jharkhand, Jahar mastered various aspects of paintings from
Shantiniketan under the training of renowned artists like Ramkinkar Baij and Benode Behari Mukherjee. He earned his diploma in painting in 1964. In 1967, Jahar conducted his first one-man show at
Birla Academy of Art and Culture,
Kolkata. His paintings reflect both traditional and contemporary ideas.
