Izhara

Izhara is a musical instrument confined to the temple rituals of Kerala. It is played at the kalamezhuthu Pattu occasion. The instrument is log-shaped and made out of wood from the jack fruit tree. The middle part is less thick than the ends. Pieces of cow hide are spread on either side using bamboo rings. A curved stick is used to play Izhara.
