Iyarpagai Nayanar

Iyarpagai Nayanar is an immense devotee of Lord Shiva. He served the Shiva devotees with all they wanted. Seeing this Lord Shiva appeared in the form of a Brahmin in his house and asked for his wife as a gift. Nayanar accepted and gave his wife itself as a gift. The brahmin wanted Nayanar to accompany him till the town end to protect him from his wife's relatives. Nayanar obeyed his word and killed all his wife's relatives who came against this sacrifice. As they reached Thiruchaikadu the brahmin wanted the Nayanar to go back. Immedietely a call came and Nayanar thought it as his wife's relatives as he looked back he saw his wife standing alone. Lord Shiva and Parvati appeared in front of them and offered blessings.
