Isabgol




Isabgol belongs to the family Plantaginaceae common in Punjab. Protein, polysaccharides, cellulose, pectin, oil, and mucilage are isolated from this plant. It possesses demulcent, cooling and diuretic properties. The plant is useful in chronic dysentery, diarrhea and constipation.
