Established in 1974 at
Bhubaneswar, Institute of Physics (IOP) is an autonomous research institution funded jointly by the Department of Atomic Energy and the Government of Orissa. It promotes research in the frontier areas of physics and other allied areas. It has active research programs in theoretical and experimental areas of high energy, nuclear, atomic, molecular and condensed matter physics, and accelerator based basic and applied sciences.
The institute conducts pre-doctoral program and doctoral program recognized by the Utkal and Berhampur Universities. It also supports short-term visitors program during summer and other vacation periods.
Located near Doordarshan (TV) Center, IOP is easily accessible from Bhubaneswar Railway Station and Biju Patnaik Airport.
