Indian Robin (Saxicoloides fulicata) is a sprightly black bird with white patch on the wing and rusty red under root of cocked tail. The female bird is ashy brown without the wing-patch.
The bird is found in pairs in dry open lightly wooded country. Diet consists of insects, insect-eggs and spiders. The bird usually nests under stones, holes in mud banks, tree-trunks and below haystacks. Nests are made of grass, rootlets and rubbish, lined with feathers or hair. Generally 2 to 3 eggs are laid. Eggs are creamy white sometimes tinged greenish speckled and blotched with reddish brown.
