Indian Pitta (Pitta brachyura) is a colorful stub-tailed thrush-like bird, with green, blue, fulvous, black and white coloration. It has crimson abdomen and under tail. During flight, a conspicuous round white spot can be seen near the tip of its wing.
The bird is basically terrestrial, however it roosts in trees. Nesting season is from May to August.
Indian Pitta can be seen in the
Kalesar Wildlife Sanctuary, Haryana, and Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu.
