Indian Folklore

Folklore is one of the ancient art forms of India, and was transferred orally to the younger generations by the elders. The ancient Indian civilization is closely linked with folklore. Apart from classical music (which follows ragas, talas and shrutis) the folk songs are simple in terms of verses and music. There are different kinds of folklore - festival songs, work songs and marriage songs. Some of the folklore of festivals and religious are generally accompanied by a suitable dance form.
