Ilaiyaankudi Maaran Nayanar

Ilaiyaankudi Maaran Nayanar is a farmer and an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. He served all the Shiva devotees as Lord Shiva. He used to take Shiva devotees to his house and offer them food and drink. Meanwhile, his wealth began to melt. Even then he served the devotees. To check his devotion Lord Shiva appeared in the form of Brahmin in a rainy day. As usual Nayanar welcomed him and gave him clothes and wanted the Brahmin to have food. But there was no food to be served. Nayanar asked his wife's opinion. She wanted him to take the seeds sown that day and some leaves from the backyard to prepare the food. They prepared a nice meal when they went to invite the Brahmin, he disappeared. Lord Shiva and Parvati appeared and they showered blessings to both of them.
