Guru Rimpoche's Trungkar Tshechu

Guru Rimpoche's Trungkar Tshechu is a Buddhist festival paying homage to Guru Rimpoche, who first blessed Sikkim as a holy land. It is believed that Guru Rimpoche established Buddhism in Sikkim. He introduced Tantric Buddhism to the Himalayan region after vanquishing demons. The festival is celebrated in memory of his victory over the demons. The virtues accrued by recitation of mantras on this day are two-fold.
