Greater Adjutant Stork

One of the rarest storks in the world, Greater Adjutant Stork (Leptoptilos dubius) is commonly found in the Brahmaputra Valley of Assam in India. Greater Adjutant Stork lives in grassland, tropical rainforest, mangroves and freshwater lakes. The head and throat have pink colored skin with a few hairs, white or black in color. The most striking feature is its big balloon seen under the breast. The bird feeds on fish and carcass, and occasionally steals food from vultures.

Greater Adjutant Stork can be seen in Dibru-Saikhowa National Park of Assam.
