Gray Nightjar (Caprimulgus indicus) is a medium-sized (28 cm) grayish nightjar. Female is similar to male but white patches buffy. The iris is brown, bill blackish and feet are chocolate color.
Its voice is hard and sharp, and rapidly repeated chuck at a steady rate of about six per second, and then ending with a chrrrr. The bird prefers rather open mountain forest and scrub. Typical nightjar flight, settles on ground or on horizontal branch in daytime.
It can be spotted in Asola Wildlife Sanctuary, Delhi.
