Gommatasara Jivakanda is a religious text highly revered by the Digambara sect of Jain religion. Written by a religious person name Acharya Nemicandra Siddhanta, it is themed around the human soul. This text contains the answers given to the questions posed by a king named Chamunda Rai.
Gommatasara Jivakanda contains the philosophy and metaphysics related with Jainism. Also contained in the text is a detailed explanation of the subclasses of the eight types of karmas. The book also deals with the co-relation between the gunasthanas (stages of spiritual attainment) of the soul and the different aspects of karmas.
The answers contained in the Gommatasara Jivakanda are derived from other ancient texts such as Satkhandagama and Kasayapahuda and their associated commentary texts such as Dhavala, Mahadhavala and the Jayadhavala. Out of this, a substantial part of the answers are borrowed from the Dhavala commentary.
