Giloe




Giloe is a large, glabrous, deciduous climbing shrub, which belongs to the family Meninspermaceae. It grows in the tropical India, up to an altitude of 300 m. It is also cultivated as ornamental plant.

It is a rejuvenator, astringent, antipyretic, blood purifier and a curative of dermatosis. The herb is prescribed as a remedy for general debility, pyrexia, skin diseases, gout and rheumatic arthritis. Multiplication is by cuttings.
