Gigantic Swallow Wort (Calotropis gigantea) is a medicinal shrub distributed throughout India. It is found in open areas and as secondary vegetation.
It has sessile leaves and almost long flowers. Madar is used as a tonic, expectorant and emetic. It is given in leg-ache, dyspepsia, hemorrhage, myalgia, rheumatism, scabies, and dysentery. Propagation is by seedling.
It is also known as Ankdo, Madar and Arka.
