Ghana Vadyas are percussion instruments made of metal, wood, stone or clay. They are constructed, mainly for emphasizing the sound of rhythmic beat. These instruments can be rarely seen in
Classical Music, since they are incapable of producing definite pitches that are required for creating a melody.
The sounds produced are short lived and hence are mainly used for Taal.
Jalatarang and the Kasht Tarang belong to this group of instruments, which are sufficient for melodious music within severe limits.
